Anhydrite, a mineral with the formula CaSO4, crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. Its crystals exhibit three orthogonal planes of perfect cleavage, but well-formed crystals are uncommon; anhydrite typically occurs as cleavable masses. Despite similar formulas, anhydrite is not isomorphous with orthorhombic baryte (BaSO4) or celestine (SrSO4).
