Antimony

Antimony, a lustrous grey metalloid with the symbol Sb and atomic number 51, is found primarily in stibnite, a sulfide mineral. Known since antiquity, its compounds were used as medicine and cosmetics, often called kohl. In 1540, Vannoccio Biringuccio wrote the earliest Western description of antimony.
