The European Council for Nuclear Research, known as CERN, is a prominent international scientific organization. Established in 1954, it operates the world's biggest particle physics lab. Located on the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, it has 23 member states, including Israel, its sole non-European full member since 2013.
