Nitrogen

Nitrogen, a nonmetal element with symbol N and atomic number 7, is the lightest pnictogen. Abundant in the universe, it ranks seventh in the Milky Way and Solar System. At STP, two nitrogen atoms bond into colorless, odorless N2 gas, forming 78% of Earth's atmosphere. Its compounds' volatility makes solid nitrogen rare on Earth.
