Polar deserts, classified as EF under Köppen, are Earth's regions with ice cap climates. Though rainfall is low enough to be considered desert-like, polar deserts differ from true BWh or BWk deserts due to their low yearly temperatures and evapotranspiration rates. Ice sheets, fields, or caps blanket most polar deserts, earning them the nickname "white deserts."
