Air currents, known as wind, are the flow of gases across the earth's surface. These currents form due to uneven solar heating between equatorial and polar regions, coupled with the planet's rotation, creating global circulation patterns. Locally, winds arise from thermal lows over land, monsoonal flows, and daily sea breeze/land breeze cycles near coasts. Mountain and valley breezes occur in areas of varied terrain.
